Happy Mother's Day!

Greetings! Does anyone else feel that time keeps flying faster and faster? Maybe it's a sign that I'm getting old! I can't believe we're upon another Mother's Day and Graduation season. Flowers are in bloom and the weather has been wonderful (don't forget your sunscreen)! This spring, I have been busy on the weekends watching my daughter play her tennis matches for the University of Florida. They are now in the round of 16 in the NCAA championship! Go Gators (sorry to all of you Carolina and Clemson fans)! Due to work obligations, I missed so many of Sophie's childhood recitals and the like, and I have realized that her college career will be over in a flash, so I am trying to watch as much of her tennis as possible, and it has been wonderful!

One thing that wasn't so wonderful was helping Sophie move out of her dorm this weekend. Yikes, what a mess! I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that our "precious" children can't see how disgusting their dorm rooms get or just don't care! Another thing that was not so wonderful was the detour I had to take on Sunday evening to get back to Charleston. I was re-routed around Ravenel due to the shooting that occurred on Highway 17 when a passenger shot at a police officer during a traffic stop. The violence and mental health crisis is out of control. Now that Covid is behind us, maybe we can have a meaningful discussion on these topics and also admit the incredible drain on our healthcare system taking care of the traumatic injuries resulting from the violence as well as the overdoses. "Experts" and politicians like to compare the deficiencies in our health care system and our life expectancy rates to those in other countries, but other countries are not plagued by the expenses caused by this trauma.

Getting back to Mother's Day, I want to give a shout-out to my own mother and a huge thanks for all she has done for me and my family through the years. There are certain record albums that remind me of my parents and my childhood. The artists that are at the top of that list are Fleetwood Mac, America, and Gordon Lightfoot. Sadly, Gordon Lightfoot passed away last week at the age of 84, and unbelievably, he was still performing! In honor of Gordon, here's a little tune for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of4i1aaBXm8

I'll end with a little confession about my own mothering habits...I tend to drive my daughter crazy by sending her inspirational quotes I find on Instagram. Regardless, I keep sending them! I have attached a screenshot of a post that spoke to me as a way of celebrating all of our moms out there.

Also, to celebrate our moms we are running our popular gift card special this week. We'll be posting some additional flash sales before Friday for some additional perks, so be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook!

Have a great week.

'Til next time,

Heidi Williams
