Why Sunscreen on Superbowl Sunday? It's February!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and getting ready for the Super Bowl this evening.  Before you go out and about today, I wanted to send out a reminder about sunscreen!

Even though it's February, it doesn't mean you don't need to protect your skin.  Your winter clothing may be protecting your trunk and extremities, but your face, neck, and hands still need coverage (unless you're in the Midwest where you have to wear a facemask, scarf, and gloves these days)!

I am a fan of mineral based sunscreens which provide a physical barrier.  Mineral based sunscreens, however, are sometimes disliked because the titanium or zinc oxide ingredients may cause a whitish look to the skin.

The HW line in my office has a wonderful tinted moisturizing sunscreen, which provides a physical barrier and does not leave a white appearance.

The Rodan+Fields line, which we also sell online through the website, also offers the SOOTHE Mineral Sunscreen.   Alternatively, some may choose a sunscreen which blocks the sun's rays though its chemical properties because they like the feel of the product on their skin.  Many of these chemical based sunscreens, though, use benzones, a chemical which has come under fire recently, though are widely found in our everyday products and not banned by the FDA.  Lastly, it is important to protect your lips with a protective lip balm, and don't forget the ears and the nose! These areas are frequent sites where skin cancers develop, and can be tricky to reconstruct after removing the skin cancer! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
