Partridge in a Pear Tree

A partridge in a pear tree...

Good am. I am sure most of you are busy getting ready for Christmas...only 3 days away! Covid is definitely affecting how we prepare for and celebrate Christmas. One of the positives is the amazing Christmas decorating this year. The lights in neighborhoods around town are impressive this year!

Just a few Covid comments. The daily cases remain very high. However, the numbers in the Roper system's ICU's remain very stable. That is very good news! There we reports over the weekend about a new Covid strain in England. This news has sparked fears, and revived talked of travel bans, etc.

From what I can tell, the strain is more contagious but not more lethal than what we have seen already. Additionally, it appears that the vaccines are effective against this British strain, too. I had a debate yesterday about my colleagues. I am left to wonder if what we are seeing in SC with the high daily numbers but stable ICU utilization may be this new strain...more contagious but not as deadly.

My colleague disagreed and simply attributed our daily numbers to Thanksgiving celebrations.. I am not sure which one of is correct, or whether it's a combination of the two, but the good news is that the vaccines have arrived.

I am so grateful to have received mine on Saturday, and there have been NO SIDE EFFECTS. And hopefully the vaccine will be widely available for all very soon.

I hope everyone has seen our 12 days of Christmas specials and that they have spread some holiday cheer.

And did you see Christmas star celestial event last night?

Merry Christmas to all, and have a wonderful week!
