Easter Season is Here! Monday's Blog by Dr. Heidi Williams

Greetings. It's officially the Easter season and spring has sprung. It was so therapeutic to get out and work in my garden this weekend. But as we all know, Charleston weather can be so fickle...looks like we're in for another cold snap (hopefully the last) next weekend.

It's hard to believe that the Covid pandemic, in terms of lockdowns, started 2 years ago at this time. Fortunately, Covid seems under control right now, but regardless, it has definitely taken a second stage to the disastrous situation in the Ukraine.

It's such a scary situation, and the scenes of the fleeing refugees are heart wrenching. With regards to Covid,

I will be updating the office mask and temperature policies when I am permitted by regulatory bodies like AAAASF, which is the accrediting agency for my operating room. However, for now, it's business a usual, or unusual, depending on how you look at it! Now back to the crisis on the world stage...It looks like we will be feeling the impacts here at home in terms of gas prices, stock market volatility, and cyber threats. Inflationary pressures continue to worsen, and supply chain woes persist.

And did you know that the Ukraine is/was the world's 4th largest wheat producer? This could have a profound impact on food supplies. But despite these worries, the vibe in Charleston seems very positive from what I can tell.

Downtown seems bustling, and the city recently hosted SEWE, and the Food and Wine Festival wrapped up yesterday. The pro tennis tournament on Daniel Island, now called the Credit One Charleston Open, starts in a few weeks, the same day as the Bridge Run! I love that the excitement in Charleston seems to have returned, I just hope we're not being myopic with war waging in Europe. I also have some exciting news to share. I sent out a little teaser about it last week, but now that it's official, I want to announce that the office will be moving to a new location in mid April.

We are so looking forward to a new and updated space. As with any move, however, there will be a transition period, but we are working hard to minimize any disruptions. We have already begun moving things out of the office, so please excuse the appearance in the short term!

Today is also Kelly Gambino's first day! Welcome aboard! Kelly is a Nurse Practitioner who brings an impressive resume and depth of experience to the practice. She will be working alongside me, Kat and Ginger and we are so excited to have her.

Angela Blalock also started last week to help with the management of the front desk as Anne starts her transition to retirement. We love having Angela on the team. With new staff and new digs, I am very enthusiastic about 2022! I hope everyone has a great week and don't think I forgot my song of the day!

It's David Bowie's, "Changes." Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BgF7Y3q-as

Oh, yeah Mmm Still don't know what I was waitin' for And my time was runnin' wild A million dead end streets and Every time I thought I'd got it made It seemed the taste was not so sweet So I turned myself to face me But I've never caught a glimpse How the others must see the faker I'm much too fast to take that test Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes Don't want to be a richer man Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes There's gonna have to be a different man Time may change me But I can't trace time Mmm, yeah I watch the ripples change their size But never leave the stream Of warm impermanence And so the days float through my eyes But still the days seem the same And these children that you spit on As they try to change their worlds Are immune to your consultations They're quite aware of what they're goin' through Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes Don't tell them to grow up and out of it Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes Where's your shame? You've left us up to our necks in it Time may change me But you can't trace time Strange fascinations fascinate me Ah, changes are taking The pace I'm goin' through Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes Ooh, look out, you rock 'n' rollers Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes Pretty soon now you're gonna get older Time may change me But I can't trace time I said that time may change me But I can't trace time
