A Closer Look at MicroNeedling & "Fire and Ice" Treatments

At our Mt. Pleasant office, we offer a variety or creams and treatments to assist in your quest for better looking skin.

Two treatments that we offer are, "Microneedling" and "Fire and Ice" treatments.

To begin with, Microneedling is a skin-rejuvenating procedure in which tiny needles create punctures in the top layer of skin with the goal of improving overall texture and appearance. Microneedling is also referred to as "C.I.T.", or, Collagen Induction Therapy.

This process stimulates the body’s natural collagen production by generating a wound healing response.

The roller used is much like a fine tattooing needle, so should cause minimal trauma when creating the microscopic punctures in the skin. However, topical local anaesthetic can be used to minimise discomfort. By damaging the skin, you encourage the body to produce new collagen and elastin, which helps it thicken and ‘plump up’.

Who would be a great candidate for this treatment? Well, If you have premature ageing, skin laxity, lines and wrinkles, or scarring from acne, or chicken pox, this can certainly help. One of the key things to understand about this procedure is that it does take time, sometimes up to 4 months, but it does work great! So what is "Fire and Ice"? The Fire and Ice treatment has two parts to it. First we apply a laser to "FIRE" up the skin. This will stimulate collagen and reduce the pore size, ultimately helping in skin tone. Next comes the "ICE" part.

Once skin reaches the optimal temperature through enough laser light passes, it is immediately cooled using cryogenically-forced air. This helps seal in all the skin benefits.

Lastly, a cooling mask containing vitamin C is then applied to the skin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that promotes healthy collagen production, reduces irregular pigmentation, and brightens skin. The result? Glowing, flawless, and youthful-looking skin!
